I am a Jersey Girl who has found herself immersed in the Deep South. As a Yankee and a former city-dweller, the move to Shreveport, Louisiana has left me a bit, well, culture shocked. After previously living in Washington, D.C. for 2 years, I now drive by fields of cows on a regular basis and most days, the highest building I see barely exceeds the tallest cypress tree. Last summer’s heat wave nearly killed me and I learned the hard way that fire ants have their name for a reason.
From the moment of my arrival, it has been an adventure.
This blog chronicles the good, the bad, the fried, and the hilariously desperate encounters while living in Shreveport. Did I mention I’ll be here until 2018?
A journey like this can only be characterized by one phrase: “laissez les bons temps rouler,” which is Louisiana’s unofficial motto in French for “let the good times roll!”
Happy reading 🙂
